Jamie Rooney has been a police officer for over 17 years in York, Maine. She has dedicated her career to working with young people and helping those less fortunate. In this book she shares her story of overcoming a childhood filled with the struggles, physical violence, drug abuse and poverty. Most of her childhood was spent looking for food and clothing, and living in survival mode amidst a variety of negative influences. This book is her opportunity to show those struggling with difficult times that they can overcome incredible circumstances. She encourages her students to find their voice and stand up for themselves while looking out for others.
