This is the last book on a four part series on a California vacation from August of 2013. The resulting books are a combined effort of a whole family exploring and enjoying the majestic beauty of the state and the company of each other. These books, with their quotes and words of wisdom, would stand well on their own as coffee table travel books of place and thought but take on another aspect with the addition of actual family vacation pictures expressing the warmth and beauty of families in times of joyful exchanges. Family life can be boring, painful and too confined when seen only in the light of daily living and surviving. It very often does not accurately reflect the feelings and dreams of the members. We are often not really what we appear to be or are demanded to be by the roles we must play in our daily family life. It is often very gratifying to step out of our roles and try to find out who we really are and would like to be. We should not lose touch with the child that remains within our hearts.

Esquire, Tpprince: - This book is also dedicated to all the families of the world, to the daily life and exchanges of love that go on in all families but are often unnoticed and unappreciated by most members of the families and are often only visible to outside observers with incredible powers of observation. I am not one of those incredible people and have, for the most part, missed these exchanges when they happened, even when they were standing out to everyone else. I am only now able to see a few of them because of having the time to retrospect upon them and to profit from the immense powers of the observations of others far more clever and observant than myself. It is the writers, poets, philosophers and inspirational thinkers that have dotted human existence since the beginning of our recorded time here. They have observed the small details of human interaction that make up family exchanges of love and caring that most of us rarely notice or respond to. They are most often little hidden exchanges: a slight smile, a nod of the head, a gentle hug, a slight hand on a shoulder, a guarded wink, a senseless joke at the right time, laughing in the face of adversity, scolding in times of selfishness, punishing in times of neglect, defending in times of attack, silence in times of doubt, praise in times of failure, truth in times of conflict, honesty in times of doubt. It is often the things we don't do, the things we refrain from doing that demonstrate our love and understanding the most. If one could take the time to respond to the acts of others in an honest more objective way, one would often see that the reaction that appears to be an attack on our personal being is really only an imperfect attempt to exchange the caring and love we have for one another. Yes, quite often, we do not understand others any better than we understand ourselves, but that does not mean that we don't love and care for each other, only that we are willing to try even if we might be misunderstood.
