John R. Morgan knows what's on the test: he spent three and one-half years at Assessment Systems, Inc. (ASI-now Pearson VUE) in its Real Estate Test Development program. During this period he was in charge of developing, maintaining, and enhancing the question pools and licensing exams for ASI's then-20+ real estate client jurisdictions. Morgan conducted over two dozen state-specific test development committee meetings and consultations for real estate clients in those jurisdictions. His career at ASI culminated in drafting the general examination that, with minor recent changes, remains in use, then reviewing it and all of ASI's sales-level test questions with a national committee of Subject Matter Experts. Morgan entered the field of large-volume test development at the Educational Testing Service (ETS) where he spent several years writing, editing, and assembling material for the verbal portion of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), Advanced Placement (AP) Literature examinations, and other ETS state and national programs. A professional educator and writer since receiving his Master of Arts in Teaching English from Brown University in 1981, Morgan took his first real estate course in 1978 while studying literature at the University of Connecticut. He has completed eight real estate exam prep books that include one for each major national test vendor, several state-specific titles for Connecticut, and a Bermuda Real Estate Guide at the request of the Bermuda government to help prepare its real estate candidates.
