Beginners' Minyan explores what it means to be a Jew in ten short stories. In this witty and provocative collection, author S. Mark Gadol introduces an array of characters so fresh, yet familiar, you'll find yourself revisiting what you think you know about yourself and the people around you.
A young woman takes revenge on her manipulative mother by going for her spiritual jugular... A Florida retiree struggles with gray-haired cliques and bullies... A young lawyer tries to take back an epithet... A man with a divine gift and his son set out on a world-wide quest to bring together the fragments of Solomon's Temple... A man learns the identity he thought made him different never existed... A father confronts the spectacle of lost tradition at his daughter's bat mitzvah.
With depth and a streak of dark humor, these seemingly unrelated tales examine themes of tradition, belief and belonging.
