Children's Book About Port Wine Stain and Sturge Weber Syndrome

Beauty Is My Birthmark is a children's book written specifically for kids with Sturge Weber and Port Wine Stain birthmarks. This book provides young readers ages 4-9 with a simple, age-appropriate way to explain their facial birthmark to classmates and friends during their school years.

Created for Sturge Weber Families

Author Diana Mendoza wrote this book for her daughter Emely, who has Sturge Weber and a Port Wine Stain. Understanding the challenges children face when they look different from their peers, Diana created a tool that empowers kids to share their story confidently. The book addresses the uncomfortable stares and questions that both children and parents experience, offering a straightforward explanation that young children can understand and share.

Perfect for the First Day of School

This book serves as a practical resource for children entering school environments where they may encounter questions about their appearance. Rather than feeling anxious or uncomfortable, kids can use this book to help their classmates understand that "It's just a birthmark" and that being different is perfectly okay and beautiful.

Educational Tool for Young Readers

Designed for children ages 4-9, Beauty Is My Birthmark explains Port Wine Stain birthmarks and Sturge Weber syndrome in clear, simple language that young minds can grasp. The book promotes body positivity, self-acceptance, and celebrates differences while teaching empathy and understanding to all readers.
