We Gotta Groove - The Brother Studio Years - SHM - CD

The Japanese 3 SHM-CD edition of We Gotta Groove: The Brother Studio Years offers a richly detailed look into The Beach Boys' 1974-1977 studio era, gathering 73 tracks that highlight Brian Wilson's remarkable creative resurgence following the success of Endless Summer and his return to full-time studio work. Featuring 35 previously unreleased recordings and 22 new mixes, the set traces the evolution from the eccentric brilliance of Love You-presented here with newly remastered audio and abundant outtakes-to the long mythologized Adult/Child sessions, finally given an official release with improved sound and rare material that deepens appreciation for Brian's bold, synth-heavy songwriting experiments. The collection also revisits sessions for 15 Big Ones, offering alternate mixes, backing tracks, and demos that reveal the band's shifting dynamics as Carl and Dennis pursued increasingly sophisticated material while the label pushed for Brian's commercial return. Throughout, the music captures a period of raw vulnerability, quirky invention, and unexpected melodic power, with highlights such as "It's Over Now" and "Still I Dream of It" standing alongside fascinating session material and the set's namesake track. Issued exclusively in Japan in SHM CD format, this edition includes Japanese translations of the liner notes and lyrics, making it an essential deep dive for fans drawn to one of the most unusual and creatively dynamic chapters in The Beach Boys' history.
