Two families are forever bound by a single crime.

One family loses a father to murder; the other sees theirs accused. When the victim's son-in-law hijacks a Navy jet and vanishes over the Canadian wilderness, he leaves a mystery that refuses to fade.

Decades later, a defamation case and blackmail pull veteran law partners Duncan Carmichael and Sydney Warren back into the lingering mysteries surrounding the original murder. They struggle to help their former clients and strive to find justice for both families.

But is justice delayed still justice?

Stuart, Charlotte: - In a world filled with uncertainty and too little chocolate, Charlotte Stuart has a passion for writing lighthearted mysteries with a pinch of adventure and a dollop of humor. She has also published two traditional mysteries set in Alaska that emphasize locale and culture. Recently, she added a co-authored legal thriller written with her husband, a soft-boiled noir, and a "revenge with a twist" to her list. Her mysteries have won numerous awards including a first place in the Chanticleer International Mystery & Mayhem Series Awards. She has twice been a NYC Big Book Award Distinguished Favorite, won a Global Book Award Gold, a Reader Views silver, a CIPA EVVY Gold, and was a finalist in Killer Nashville's Silver Falchion, Eric Hoffer, and Nancy Pearl Awards. She began her career in academia with a PhD in communications. Then, she and her husband decided to build a commercial boat and go fishing for salmon in Alaska. Currently she lives and writes on Vashon Island in Washington State's Puget Sound.Stuart, Don: - Don Stuart is a former practicing attorney and a former commercial fisherman who, in 1990, became Executive Director and a lobbyist for the Washington commercial salmon fishing industry. In 1995 he served as Campaign Manager in the successful defense against a Washington statewide anti-commercial fishing ballot initiative (I-640). In 1996, he ran for the U.S. Congress in Washington's First Congressional District. In 1997 he became Executive Director for the Washington Association of Conservation Districts and in 2000 became Northwest Regional Director for the American Farmland Trust. In that role, he fought to protect agricultural land from development and to assure its responsible environmental management. Don's Washington Statehouse Mysteries take the reader on a quest for the truth inside the complex, chaotic, and sometimes unprincipled world of state legislative policy.
