NEWLY REVISED & UPDATED This, the 3rd edition of Asiatic Echoes, includes the study's highly significant Supplemental Reports #1 PLUS images of 54 previously unpublished ancient Chinese pictogram-glyph writings. For centuries, researchers have been debating if, in pre-Columbian times, meaningful exchanges between the indigenous peoples of Asia and the Americas might have taken place. Many sinologists have written positively on this topic, yet, so far, no conclusive proof has been put forth establishing such trans-Pacific contact as a historical event. This book introduces previously unrecognized ancient written evidence that in pre-Columbian times, multiple intellectual exchanges took place between Chinese and North American populations. Using the novel integration of the legal construct of substantial similarity with the comparative statistical tool of Jaccard's Index of Similarity, the Chinese origin of 107 North American petroglyphs and pictographs is established. Here is demonstrable epigraphic proof that Chinese explorers not only reached the Americas long before the first European voyagers, but that they interacted positively with Native North American people on multiple occasions over an extended period of time, approximately 2,500 YBP.

John Ruskamp is the Senior Research Analyst for Epigraphic Research, a registered Illinois association dedicated to the scientific investigation of some of the world's most enduring enigmas. His education includes a degree in biochemistry from the Illinois Institute of Technology and three graduate degrees from Loyola University of Chicago. After 34 years as a science teacher and administrator, John retired from the Chicago Public Schools as the district's Manager of eLearning. Earlier, while serving in combat with the Navy during the Vietnam War, in addition to his normal duties, he reached out to others by teaching mathematics for the Army-Navy Academy. Later, he worked as an analytical chemist at Argonne National Laboratory, taught at VanderCook College, and still supports the Adler Planetarium's near-space, high altitude balloon program. While in the Orient with the military, John developed an appreciation for Chinese culture and learned the basic forms of the script. His introduction to ancient rock art came while he was visiting Scandinavia in 1978. As an avid sailor, he noted with particular interest the maritime characteristics of Norwegian rock art imagery. Recognizing that similar nautical patterns also occur in North American rock writing and Chinese script, John began a full-time, multi-year, investigation into the origin of these curious depictions. Recently, the revolutionary research findings of this in-depth study have been reported by the media around the world.
