Emma thinks her little sister Bree and Grandpa are alike. Grandpa doesn't. Watching Bree grow from a toddler to a college coed, Emma makes her case by highlighting how Bree's newfound experiences mirror Grandpa's. There is the time they both buy shoes with sticky straps. And the time they both get admitted to the high school basketball game free - Bree because she's little, and Grandpa because he's a grandpa. Are They Alike? causes little ones and elders to smile together while learning that growing older is normal and aging with grace is easy when there is love. All ages (3 to 103)

  • A unique and sometimes funny perspective only a child and senior can share is brought to life in this heartfelt picture book.
  • Grandparents and grandchildren will both want to read this playful, smile-making book together again and again.
  • This perfect gift will inspire boys, girls, grandfathers, and grandmothers to share their own likes.
  • Are They Alike? tenderly reveals that even across generations, we are not that different.

McIntyre, James M.: - A designer, teacher, and multigenerational fan, Mike often sees the world in unusual ways. One is how our latter years mirror our early years. Mike collected alikes for years while pondering how to best share them so they might find delight across generations. The answer became the children's picture book Are They Alike? because children's books are as enjoyable to adults as to children. Mike's bookshelves still hold a handful of children's books he read again and again with his grandparents. Much later he discovered his favorite from that collection was by Peter Newell, the author/illustrator who inspired Dr. Seuss. Mike can't answer whether it is the designer in him that led to his love of children's books or the honesty and simplicity of children's books that led him to design. Mike and his children's-book-loving wife live in Wisconsin and shower their grandchildren with books they hope will never be outgrown.Thomas, Ann: - Ann Thomas is known for her detailed images in children's books, greeting cards, and other print media. Ann is also widely recognized for her fine architectural style renderings of homes and landmark buildings. Ann has a degree in graphic design but the gift of a very fine sketching pen enabled her to discover illustration as her true love. She has since grown to love colored pencils, watercolors, pastels, and acrylics. Ann's joy comes from catching the fine detail on a venerable old building in pen and ink and a child's soft expression in colored pencil and watercolor. Ann freelances out of her home studio in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and conducts workshops around Wisconsin. She can be contacted at annsart@sbcglobal.net
