Carl G. Jung broke with Sigmund Freud to develop his own form of analytical psychology, based on the ideas of the archetypes and the collective unconscious. He also found those concepts exhibited in myth and religion.

Among the latter are books about mythology, Taoism, the cosmology of the Greek philosophers, the Japanese martial arts, Tarot, astrology, and life force concepts.His novels explore existential subjects from Stone Age drama to science fiction, but lately he focuses increasingly on the present.In the history of ideas, he researches the thought patterns in creation myths, as well as theories about those myths through history.He is also a 7 dan instructor in the peaceful martial art aikido, which he has practiced for 50 years.
