She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).Hammond, Alma: - Alma Hammond came up with the idea for this book while staying at a luxury hotel on Rue Cambon in Paris, France. There, an aloof Chartreux cat named Heliot, much like Andre, resides. In André the Five-Star Cat; she imagines what life would be like for Heliot if he no longer had such cozy surroundings. Alma lives with her husband Bob, dog Stazi, and two cats Violet and Daisy in Bethesda, Maryland. She is the author of the acclaimed children's book Super Rooster and Wonder Cat.
