Thompson, Russ: - I'm a retired educator who grew up in Lynwood, California and graduated from Whitworth University in 1979. I served as a reading teacher and high school principal in high-poverty areas of Los Angeles. Much of my work was with students who struggled in school because of low literacy levels. My goal is to write books that will help students improve their reading skills, believe in themselves, and increase their success in school. I have a doctorate in education from UCLA. My wife and I have four grown children and live in Long Beach, California.
