Northey, Sian: - Sian Northey is a freelance author, poet, translator and editor. She is one of two guest editors for our Welsh/English bilingual poetry anthology A470, and has a poem in in Menopause: The Anthology. Sian usually writes in and translates into Welsh, so a poem in English is a departure.Sian Northey is a freelance author, poet and translator. A first language Welsh speaker, she writes in Welsh/Cymraeg and mainly translates from English to Welsh, and occasionally in the other direction.A translation (Susan Walton) of Sian's novel Yn y Tŷ Hwn was published under the title This House this year. Currently she is working on a novel where a small group of women face the closure of their chapel in rural Wales as the congregation dwindles.Sian has, through Literature Across Frontiers, visited Kerala as a member of a translation poetry workshop and until recently she was Poet in Residence on an 18-month-long heritage project run by the Church in Wales. She also spent a week last year as Writer in Residence on Bardsey/Ynys Enlli.After co-editing Arachne's first bilingual anthology, A470: Poems for the Road/Cerddi'r Ffordd, with Ness Owen, she is very enjoyed working with her again on Afonydd.Mae Sian Northey yn awdur, bardd a chyfieithydd llawrydd. Ar ôl cyd-olygu blodeugerdd ddwyieithog gyntaf Arachne, A470: Poems for the Road/Cerddi'r Ffordd gyda Ness Owen mae'n edrych ymlaen yn fawr i weithio efo hi eto ar Afonydd.Owen, Ness: - Ness Owen lives on the island of Ynys Môn, off the North Wales coast, where she writes plays, poetry and stories in between lecturing and farming. Her poems have been widely published in journals and anthologies. We will be publishing Ness's latest collection Naming the Trees in February 2025. Ness's first collection Mamiaith (Mother Tongue) was published by Arachne Press in 2019; and her work also appeared in our anthology An Outbreak of Peace. She is one two guest editors for our bilingual anthology A470, and our forthcoming bilingual anthology provisional entitiled Afonydd.Ness's work has appeared in various journals including Poetry Wales, Red Poets, I, S & T, The Fat Damsel, Culture Matters and in anthologies published by Arachne Press, Three Drops Press, Here and Now project and Mother's Milk Books. She has had a number of short plays produced, including The Footpath (Ucheldre Rep) at The Ucheldre Centre, Holyhead, Keep Moving (Suitcase Community Theatre) at Clwyd Theatr Cymru, Goodbye My Love (Scriptslam) at Sherman Cymru, Cardiff, Shut Up (Dirty Protest) at The Bar in Galeri, Caernarfon, and Saviour's Day (Dirty Protest) at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff.Ness's poems have been performed for Solstice Shorts Festival so often we asked her to help organise, and you can find her solstice poems in: Shortest Day, Longest Night, Dusk, Noon, Time and Tide, Tymes goe by Turnes and Words from the Brink.
