My passion is to write music that speaks the truth about life and our relationship with God. My message is that the Divine walks with us, is very real and present to us no matter what we are experiencing, in trials and in joyful moments. The angels on this album spoke to me very profoundly one day as I met artist Linda Barry in Toledo, Ohio. I remarked, 'These angels want to be sung.' She responded, 'I know' and we began our collaboration. Shortly afterward, Linda suddenly passed away. At first I wasn't sure if further collaboration was meant to be, but with the prompting of Megan Ellis, Linda's daughter and some of Linda's friends, I began this project with much love for our friend who was now guiding us from a higher place. Although this album focuses on fourteen angels, Linda created over sixty of them. I took each drawing into the recording studio, asked the Divine to sing the angel's song through me, and whatever came out became the soul song of the angel. Each angel has a certain set of notes that correspond to it as well as a tonal center. When I finished the project, I noticed that all 12 musical keys are represented on this album and I did not do this intentionally. When I saw this, I realized that I could put them into the circle of fifths which is the order they are presented on the album. I believe this to have healing properties.
