Get to know the remarkable mind of Ada Lovelace, a scientific genius with the imagination of a poet. Readers discover the extraordinary combination of rigorous scientific training and intuitive creativity that enabled her to design the precursor to modern computers. Ada's mother is a pragmatic mathematician, and her father is a famous romantic poet. Her mother worries that she will take after her whimsical father, and insists that young Ada studies math and science. Ada goes on to combine her mother's analytical talents with her father's imagination, describing her approach as "poetical science." Her unique worldview enables Ada to become the world's first computer programmer--long before actual computers--leading to culture-changing innovation and challenging the gender roles of her time. Each book in this collectible series is an exciting combination of the perpetually popular 5 Minute stories format and nonfiction biographies for young readers genres. The series' unique approach, with each book containing ten exciting stand-alone stories in the life of a genius plus bonus informational content on the science, craft, and history behind each story, creates an engaging reading experience for young readers. 5-Minute Genius explores a broad range of noteworthy individuals with STEM appeal for readers ages 6-9, from scientists like Albert Einstein and Ada Lovelace, to athletes like Lionel Messi and Simone Biles, to activists like Rosa Parks and the Suffragettes.
