William Law served the Lord in the 18th century as an Anglican pastor. Law was a man of conviction. He lost his position as a professor after refusing to take an oath of allegiance to Hnoverian King George I. Eventually Law was driven from the priesthood. He continued to teach and write. He was an excellent author. He met with and influenced great men including Edward Gibbons (The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire), William Wilberforce, Dr. Samuel Johnson, and the Wesley brothers.
