Unique Rock Art Picture Book Tells the Christmas Story

This hardcover picture book presents the nativity story through an innovative artistic approach—carefully arranged rocks combined with Scripture from the Gospel of Luke (NKJV). Each page uses natural materials to depict the birth of Jesus, offering children ages 4-8 a fresh perspective on the Christmas miracle.

Features and Specifications

The book includes a premium cover with foil accents, embossing, and spot gloss details that catch the light. Inside, full-color photographs showcase the rock art arrangements that illustrate each scene from the nativity. The text draws directly from the Gospel of Luke in the New King James Version, maintaining biblical accuracy while remaining accessible for young readers.

Dimensions and format make this book suitable for both independent reading and group story time. The hardcover binding ensures durability for repeated readings throughout multiple holiday seasons.

Educational and Creative Applications

Beyond reading, this book serves as inspiration for hands-on art projects. Children can create their own biblical scenes using natural materials like rocks, sticks, and leaves found outdoors. This tactile approach to storytelling helps young readers engage with the Christmas narrative through multiple learning styles.

The book works well for:

  • Advent calendar activities and daily Christmas readings
  • Sunday school lessons about the nativity
  • Family devotional time during the holiday season
  • Gift-giving for Christian families with young children
  • Classroom activities combining art and religious education

Author Background

Patti Rokus spent her childhood in rural Oregon wading through streams, building forts and looking under rocks. A sensitive soul, she felt the joy and pain of others as if her own, and yearned to create beauty, connection and peace. Years later, taking a break from a career in technology with Microsoft, British Petroleum, Nike and others, she found her way back to her true loves - nature and God. Patti is still a wanderer, not yet rooted in one place, but can be found pocketing a few rocks on every hike throughout the Pacific Northwest, smiling at the attention from God. She believes that anyone can return to their true nature of connection, innocence and joy; but sometimes we just need someone to hold our hand and together find the answers to who we really are, and why we're here.

Companion Title Available

Readers who enjoy this book's unique approach to biblical storytelling can continue with He Is Risen: Rocks Tell the Story of Easter, which uses the same rock art method to illustrate the resurrection narrative.
