Ortloff, George Christian: - GEORGE CHRISTIAN ORTLOFF grew up in Lake Placid. He was fifteen when the body of a woman from the past was pulled from the lake. Since those times, he has won more than a half-dozen writing awards in print and broadcasting from Viet Nam to Cape Canaveral and home again to the North. He co-authored Lake Placid: The Olympic Years 1932-1980 with his brother Stephen, and three historical novels.His chequered career includes: two tours in Viet Nam; producing the ceremonies for the XIII Olympic Winter Games, managing editor of the evening news program on WPTZ-TV in Plattsburgh, twenty years in the New York State Assembly, two years on the state parole board, and eleven years in Federal prison, where he wrote his novels, The Orphanage, The Glow From That Fire, and Promises To Keep.
