A King James Dictionary: A Resource for Understanding the Language of the King James Bible

A collection of archaic, obscure and hard to understand words and phrases, with over a thousand definitions and examples, as found in a modern printing of the Authorized Version (King James).

This is not intended to be a theological dictionary, nor a general Bible dictionary. In other words, this dictionary is not intended to provide definitions for words such as God, mercy, sacrifice, covenant, prophecy, grace, priest, elder, baptism, etc., for these are words which are still in use in the English language and can be found in any English dictionary. Instead, this dictionary's sole purpose is to provide definitions for words and phrases that are often not included in a modern English dictionary, or whose meanings have changed significantly since the early 17th century, such as (for the letter "A"): agone, all to, anon, augue, almsdeeds, ambassage, amerce, astonied, avouch, axletree, ...
