The speech bubbles in the story are meant to be read aloud to the child, while the footnotes on the bottom stating which strategy is being used are for the parents. There are extra communication tips and developmental insight on some of the pages.

Daisy is a 2-year-old girl who only says a handful of words. Typically, 2-year-olds produce 200-400 words and are starting to speak in 2-word phrases. Daisy's parents use speech and language strategies they learned from their pediatric speech therapist (from the beginning of the book). These strategies are easily embedded into daily routines, so as families go about their busy lives, they can simultaneously promote their child's language development!
