A Child Of God - Paperback

From the Depths: A Memoir of Survival, Solitude, and Sobriety

From a turbulent childhood of gummy worms and tangled strings, through the haze of addiction and the harsh echo of a prison cell, Casey Jay Woida's story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. In this unflinchingly honest memoir, he recounts a life carved by hardship; a mother lost to grief and meth, a fractured family, and a legacy of survival learned in the backwoods and on broken roads.

But this is more than a story of survival. It's a chronicle of a soul's relentless search for freedom; first in the thrilling speed of a roller rink, then in the dangerous escape of a bottle, and finally in the vast, humbling wilderness of the Grand Canyon. With nothing but grit and a backpack, Casey's solo trek into America's greatest chasm becomes a powerful metaphor: a descent into his own depths to find the strength to climb back out.

This is the gripping account of a man who hit rock bottom in a 5x10 cell and discovered the foundation for a new life. It's a story of radical transformation from a self-described "menace to society" to a sober, contributing citizen celebrating five years of freedom, faith, and purpose.

My Book is a beacon for anyone who has ever felt lost, battled addiction, or doubted the possibility of change. It's a raw, hopeful, and ultimately triumphant reminder that even from the most broken places, a beautiful new beginning can be built, one step, one prayer, and one canyon at a time.
