A Burning Desire to Fly - Paperback

One hundred years. Four wars. A singular devotion to the sky.

Raised on a New York farm during the Great Depression, Charles Cone transformed a childhood dream into a century of service. From the cockpit of Navy training planes in World War II to the high-stakes missions of Korea, Vietnam, and the Cuban Missile Crisis, Cone's life mirrored the evolution of American aviation.

But the story doesn't end in the clouds. This memoir captures the daily friction of military life and the quiet endurance of a family waiting on the ground. Told with technical clarity and deep restraint, Burning Desire to Fly is a firsthand record of what it means to answer a lifelong calling-and the discipline required to stay airborne.
