Roe, Monica: - Monica Roe grew up in a tiny farming town and spent her childhood holed up in a corner of the local library, where she was once almost locked in at closing time. (She saw this as a huge win; the librarian disagreed). Monica has spent more than a decade as a physical therapy provider for remote, off-road communities throughout rural Alaska. When not commuting to work on bush planes, Monica studies public health at the University of Alaska Anchorage. She and her family spend summers at their apiary in South Carolina and provide local educational programs about pollinators and beekeeping.Coulson, Art: - Art Coulson, Cherokee, was an award-winning journalist and the first executive director of the Wilma Mankiller Foundation in Oklahoma. His first children's book, The Creator's Game: A Story of Baaga'adowe/Lacrosse (Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2013), told of the deep spiritual and cultural connections of American Indian people to the sport of lacrosse. Art still plays traditional Cherokee stickball, an original version of lacrosse, when he is visiting friends and family in the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Art lives in Apple Valley, Minnesota, with his wife and two daughters.Forster, Gregor: - Gregor Forster, studied scientific illustration at the Zurich University of Arts in Switzerland. After finishing his studies in 2015 he started illustrating fiction and nonfiction picture books, educational books, and advertisements. When illustrating children's books, Gregor loves to research new topics and learn about the world the story takes place in. He loves to entertain, educate, and amaze children as much as adults with his illustrations. When Gregor isn't drawing or painting, he might be freediving somewhere in cold Swiss lakes.
