Under and Over the Snow is a warm and charming story, pleasantly illustrated, about five forest animals and their wise, friendly neighbor, the sheep farmer Grandmother Dori.

After an early snowstorm, the animals travel together to get advice about where to find food. Grandmother Dori teaches the moose, rabbit, bear, deer and porcupine that nature has already prepared them very well for winter.

Delightfully illustrated by watercolor paintings, Under and Over the Snow captivates young children with an engaging and adventurous tale. At the same time, it teaches them how some New England animals adapt to winter. Information about the forest animals was provided by wildlife biologists from the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

Zygmont, Jeffrey: - Author Jeffrey Zygmont is best known for his popular poetry that describes the New England experience, in books that include White Mountain Poems and More White Mountain Poems. A versatile writer, Jeff also has published three novels, and two non-fiction books that chronicle America's high-technology businesses. His short fiction has appeared in magazines, literary journals and anthologies. As a journalist and columnist, Jeff has written articles and essays for national magazines and newspapers on topics that range from automobiles and computers to relationships, outdoor living, consumer products and distinctive people. Under and Over the Snow is Jeff's third children's book. It follows Harold the Helpful Hiker and Harold Leaps into Lake Winnie, the initial two books in a series of nature adventures for children. In all of his children's books, Jeff combines his experience with nature and love of the outdoors with his skills as a writer, crafting stories that entertain and engage children while also informing and educating them about the natural world. The first goal of a story is to capture an audience, to win people's attention and interest, says Jeff. After that, and especially with children, I want to give them insight and appreciation of our wonderful world. Jeff also is publisher of Free People Publishing, which specializes in literature that focuses on New England. See freepeepub.com.Morgan, Jeffrey: - As an artist, illustrator and muralist, Jeffrey K.
