Gleser, Virginia: - Virginia Gleser was born in Japan and grew up in Korea with her parents who were medical missionaries. Her grandmother was an artist and Virginia always enjoyed the time spent painting with her. While working for the non-profit organization called Plenty in Miami, Fla., she started her tie-dye business, honing her skills and developing original designs. In 1984 after her family had moved to Modesto, Ca., she and her husband, Robert opened Harmony Enterprises. Traveling to arts and crafts shows throughout the West, they were able to support their large family (8 kids) and help pay for college tuition for 16 years. They sold the business to their eldest son, Brian in 2003, who continues the family legacy of high quality tie-dye designs. They now spend six months of each year, cruising on their sailboat, Harmony in Mexico. Their travels have taken them as far as Central America and Ecuador. The other half of the year they are in California spending time with their adult children and six grandchildren.
