Lailah Gifty Akita is was born in Abokobi-Accra, Ghana. She is a PhD Student studying Geosciences at Max Planck Research School for Global Biogeochemical Cycles and University of Jena, Germany. She has a postgraduate certificate in Observational Oceanography at Nippon Foundation - Partnership for Observation of Global Oceans, Center of Excellence, Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences. She obtained a MPhil in Oceanography at the University of Ghana. She received her Bsc (Honours) in Natural Resources Management at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Lailah Gifty Akita is inspirational writer. She passionate about empowering the mind of young people to fulfill their highest potential. She is also the author of 'The Alphabet of Success'. She is also the founder of Smart Youth Volunteers Foundation.
