The Salt of the Earth is a historical novel that tells the story of an African American family after the period in the United States of America known as Reconstruction, after the civil war and several generations after. This historical novel is about a family that resides in Alabama during the era when African people in America were fighting for freedom in North America, the Caribbean and Africa and how they were able to thrive, engage in their culture and connect with their African homeland.
