Patrick Makin's first job as a writer was as a war correspondent in Yemen, before he moved to Bristol and started working as script-editor for an animation production company. The Adventurous Kid's Guide to the World's Most Mysterious Places is his first book for children. He lives in Bristol, England.

Whooli Chen works with a delicate palette and sensitive painterly layers that take whimsical illustration to another realm. Chen studied a master's in illustration at the University of the Arts London, where she found a muse in an urban street fox. She lives in Australia.
