Hasselmann, Ron: - Ron Hasselmann played associate principal trumpet in the Minnesota Orchestra for forty-two years. He also played principal trumpet in the Lyric Opera in Chicago and the Seventh Army Symphony in Europe, and he performed with numerous brass ensembles and bands. Now his reminiscences are collected into a single volume, ready to entertain and inform everyone who wonders what the view is like from the other side of the stage.Ongley, Laurie: - Laurie Hasselmann Ongley works in concert production at Yale University, where she earned a Ph.D. in musicology. She has had a varied career in lexicography, editing, and teaching, but as co-author of Sound the Trumpet she is happy to return to her childhood identity, Ron's daughter. An amateur violist, Laurie has made her peace with viola jokes such as those in this book. After retiring from Yale in 2022, Laurie intends to spend as much time as possible on the Appalachian Trail.
