One of the Dozens: Performance Art in Los Angeles - Paperback

One of the Dozens is Praxinoscope's fourth print volume in the 2022 "PerformX" series, documenting leading edge transdisciplinary group performance exhibitions in Los Angeles. In One of the Dozens, 20 artists -who worked in pairs or duets- now respond in print form to their own live performances given on December 8, 2022 at Beyond Baroque, Venice, CA. In addition to the work by the artists, curators DA Denckla and Matthew Bussa offer their own interventions and prompts to activate and to enhance readers' creative engagement with the text. Readers are encouraged to "rip, cut, crease, scribble, disregard, destroy, share, and respond." Sources of inspiration for reader instructions trace a tradition of experimental poets and conceptual artists, such as Julio Cortazar's The Instruction Manual, Yoko Ono's Grapefruit or CA Conrad's (Soma)tic Poetry Exercises.
