An honest, short, non-fiction story of my journey of adopting my two sons. The trials and tribulations one can go through with children who are born with drugs in their system. My story is not unusual and at times it is heart-breaking. I wanted to tell it as a form of therapy for myself, but also in the hopes that someone who is going through a difficult process will read this and not feel alone. When I started the process of adopting, there really wasn't anything I could find about the process of adopting to become the mom I always wanted to be.

My sons are now young adults, thriving, and each doing well out on their own. I dedicate this to them and the hopes they will be happy successful men, which is all I have ever wanted for them.

Ketchel, Paula: -

I always wanted to be a Mom and circumstances surrounding five miscarriages lead me to the path of adopting. Who knew it would be so difficult and a road wrought with trials and tribulations?

I raised my sons and they are now young adults. I work full time in a school district and have recently discovered a love of traveling. My favorite place to visit is New York to see Broadway shows. I grew up in Sacramento, California with terrific parents who made me want to be parents like they were. I was involved in dance starting at age four, performing in dance recitals, eventually teaching tap dance lessons to ages four to adult, and a local musical review show for fourteen years. I started performing in musical theater in high school and continued until we began the adoption process.

I still reside in the greater Sacramento area.
