The name of Michel Magne is unavoidable in any reference to composers of French film music. He was a precocious genius with an insatiable appetite and, thanks to Olivier Julien, this "Instrume ntal World of Michel Magne" brings together the first works he issued. Right from the beginning, Magne's early soundtracks were delicious, among them not only his notable music for Verneuil's "Un singe en hiver," but also various experimental pieces and swerves into jazz. These were the first melodies by a young arranger who would stand the music world on it's head.
