The second section, "Society," includes essays by Fei Xiaotong, Ma Yinchu, Wu Han, Liang Sicheng, and Chen Hengzhe. Each selection begins with a brief introduction about the author and concludes with discussion questions. Chih-p'ing Chou is professor of East Asian Studies at Princeton University and director of the university's Chinese language and Princeton in Beijing programs. Ying Wang is professor of Asian Studies at Mount Holyoke College. Xuedong Wang is a former preceptor in Chinese in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University.
