With their roots firmly planted in Detroit's CassCorridor punk rock and hardcore scene of the early80s, John Brannon (Negative Approach) and LarissaStrickland (L-Seven), along with the locked in rhythmsection of Kevin Strickland and Jim Kimball later(after Kevin and Jim left to form Mule) Ron Sakowski(Necros) taking over on bass and Todd Swalla (Necros)handling drum duty, the Laughing Hyenas took it to acompletely different plane. Taking pointers from TheBirthday Party and Funhouse era Stooges as wellas early blues and jazz artists, the Laughing Hyenaswere a fierce, sulfuric blast of noise. The sinister andhypnotic bass riffs, and tribal swing laid the perfectframework for Larissa's (she only picked up a guitara couple months before the band was born) slicing,jagged, she might even be murdering that thing guitarplaying and John Brannon's devilish howl.
