Sven-Ingo Koch straddles the narrow dividing line between a fascination with the music's edges, fractures, and anomalies and a desire for unity and harmony within the tradition of European art music: "And yet, despite my experience of insularity, I want to incorporate mutually antagonistic elements in structural processes that will bring them closer together."
