His father was a police officer, his mother was a homemaker, and his brother was a pharmacist. He has an associate's degree and technical certificates from Ivy Tech State College and continued studies at Indiana, Purdue, and Wisconsin. He is now retired and resides in Sahuarita, Arizona with plenty of sunshine.
