When you peel away the layers in jazz history, you often find that the ideal path to recognition followed by the ladies in the genre was... singing. Playing the piano came a close second, but among the pianists there were a few who, after adding songs to their palette, succeeded in attracting a wide audience. And in so doing, they also paved the way for more than one of today's stars. This 3-album retrospective prepared by Jean-Paul Ricard and Jean Buzelin is a tribute to those pioneering singer-pianists.
