Tom Smith was raised in New Jersey in the US, and served in the Coast Guard during World War II. After graduating from Leicester College in Massachusetts, he held two sales positions before starting a successful 34-year career with a major insurance company. As an agent, sales manager, and agency manager, Tom was awarded a President's Citation in each position, and has earned over 55 awards for excellence in sales and leadership. Active in professional, civic, and church affairs, Tom was president of two local trade associations, a member of the Jaycees as well as his local Lions Club, and served as an elder and clerk in his church. He was also on the board of directors and served as campaign chairman and chief volunteer officer of his local United Way Organization. Tom has appeared on TV and radio talk shows and has been the featured speaker at various civic and business organizations including the members and donors of the local YMCA, the Florida International Club, and at a leading financial services organization at their annual meeting. Tom is married with two children and five grandchildren, and he and his wife live in New Jersey.
