This book documents the history of the Wheeler, Riley, King, Wondunna and Owens families in and around the Great Sandy Straits area of Queensland, including Fraser Island, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Burrum Heads and beyond.¬ It captures the spirit of the recent past and records for the future much that will soon pass from living memory. Both Indigenous and non-Indigenous families are represented and their extensive and often fascinating interactions are brought to light. Many of the present generation, through no fault of their own, are only vaguely aware of this.
