Tzimtzum

Introducing 'Tzimtzum,' an illuminating album by composer Jaap Nico Hamburger. The title work, 'Tzimtzum,' was commissioned by Montréal Festival Classical and had it's premiere in May 2023 as pa rt of the 'Lux Aeterna' gala event. Rooted in the Kabbalistic concept of 'Tzimtzum'-the act of contraction or withdrawal to create space-the album serves as an aural contemplation on making room for creative potential and human emotion. The essence of 'Tzimtzum' beautifully mirrors the eternal light celebrated during the holiday season, especially resonating with the Festival of Lights, Hanukkah.
