One of the world's leading exponents of Yiddish and cantorial music, the late lyric tenor and cantor Louis Danto possessed such great technique and overall control that few could match his breathtaking emotional expressivity. In addition to his artistry as a performer, Danto was an avid collector and scholar who possessed one of the world's largest and most important historical collections of Jewish music including rare sheet music, recordings and books. Presented here is a wonderful vintage recording of Danto performing traditional Jewish melodies from Central and Eastern Europe. All selections newly re-mastered.
