What is DLD?

Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is a condition where children struggle to learn and use language for no obvious reason. It can affect how well someone understands spoken or written language and make it challenging to clearly express thoughts when speaking or writing. DLD is a lifelong condition that affects about 1 in 14 people. It can impact relationships, education, and daily life. However, with the right support, people with DLD can thrive!

We're a teacher and SLP duo passionate about supporting families navigating DLD. Our mission is to empower parents, teachers, and therapists to feel confident supporting children with DLD. We want to make DLD as widely known as conditions like ADHD and autism.

In the Dan and Daria series, kids with DLD finally get to see themselves in the pages of a book! As they journey with Dan and Daria, kids with DLD can be inspired to face their own challenges. Friends, teachers, and family members can gain a deeper understanding and empathy for those who sometimes have trouble with words.
