The band were from Crown Heights, a small neighbourhood in Brooklyn, due to high unemployment, soaring crime and racial tension in the area it seemed obvious to call their new band The Crown Heights Affair. Their debut album was released on RCA in 1973, yielding their first placement on the R&B chart with 'Leave The Kids Alone', by mutual consent in 1975 the band moved to the De- Lite label and the hits started coming, including 'Dreaming A Dream', 'Foxy Lady', 'Dancin', 'Dance Lady Dance' and the international hits 'Galaxy Of Love' and 'You Gave Me Love'.
