Description
Details: 2018 release. Crescent was formed in 1998 by Ismaeel Attallah and Amr Mokhtar in Cairo, Egypt. It started as a black metal band influenced by the Swedish black metal scene. They released their first demo in 1999, making it one of the oldest heavy bands of it's kind in the region. In the following years, Crescent shifted towards a more melodic black/death metal sound with a murderous old school death metal vibe. In 2014, the band released their full-length debut Pyramid Slaves, focusing on Ancient Egyptian history/mythology, which marked the band's complete transformation towards black/death metal infused with Egyptian elements. In the following years, Crescent was booked to major Metal festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Inferno Metal Festival, Fall of Summer festival among others. Crescent 's much anticipated second full-length The Order of Amenti shows more emphasis on the blackened death metal thematic atmospheres while maintaining it's primordial Egyptian death metal essence. The Order Of Amenti is a tribute to the Ancient Egyptian gods. It is their thought of contribution to Egypt and to the metal world. As they have always wanted to create something to pay homage to their history and country. The album is based on Egyptian mythology; it lyrically and musically manifests the divine nature of the ancient Egyptian gods' attributes. Such characteristics reflect upon many principals that deal with today's issues. Hence, the epic soundscape with the ethnic Egyptian musical scales/instruments that are very dominant on this record. It is the pinnacle of Crescent 's historical development.
