"But he's a killer," Lynda said with anxiety in her voice. "Think of how dangerous it will be when you find him."

Paula placed her nine-millimeter pistol on the table and smiled. "That's his problem."

Becky Watson, a junior reporter for City Times, takes an interest in a cold case from 34 years ago when the victim is finally identified through new DNA testing. Because of her interest in this case, she is shot one morning as she leaves her apartment. While Becky clings to life in the hospital, her coworker, Terry Lambert, who is a dwarf, and his friend Paula Stanford, a former Marine Corps MP, discover Becky's interest in this cold case has uncovered a serial killer with a 30-year history. Now they must work with the police to find the killer while protecting Becky from a killer determined to end her life.
