Howard Reisman is an ichthyology professor at Southampton College. His research interests have included the behavior of the stickleback fish family and the occurrence of antifreeze proteins in some Atlantic coast marine fishes. He lives in Southampton, NY. Shirley Baty was a freelance medical and biological illustrator. She has illustrated numerous surgical atlases and biology textbooks. She had also taught scientific illustration at Southampton College, Southampton, N.Y.
