Animals in Time, Volume 1: Historical Empires and Civilizations Storybook
Animals in Time Volume 1 delivers twenty-six A-Z animal adventure stories that transport children across continents and centuries. Each story features a different animal character exploring historical empires and ancient civilizations, from paddling the Nile River to trekking through the Amazon rainforest and crossing Mesoamerican terrain.
The Commandment Stone Adventure Series
The Commandment Stone serves as the magical element connecting all adventures, enabling animals to travel through time and space. Characters dodge Visigoth arrows, escape Samurai warriors, and share xocolatl (hot chocolate) with the Aztecs. This continuing saga format keeps readers engaged as they follow interconnected stories across different historical periods.
Educational Content for Middle Grade Readers
Designed for ages 9-12, this illustrated storybook combines entertainment with cultural education. Children learn about ancient civilizations through character-driven narratives. The A-Z format introduces diverse historical periods chronologically, from ancient times to 499 A.D., making world history accessible and memorable for young readers.
Notable Characters and Stories
Ella the Eagle stands out with her fierce energy, sophistication, and grace. Lenny the Ladybug brings an aggressive yet knowledgeable attitude. Nari the Newt's story features the Commandment Stone's power flowing into her, granting fiery abilities. Xande the X-Ray Tetra's adventure involves an unexpected journey into a soup pot. Each character offers unique perspectives on historical events and civilizations.

This paperback functions as a comprehensive homeschool resource, integrating geography, world history, and cultural studies. The illustrated format supports visual learning while adventure narratives maintain engagement. Rodriguez, Christopher: - These stories were so fun to craft! The whole element of a continuing saga was especially exciting. It was really interesting to see how the functions of the Commandment Stone and other elements came together. My favorite character in the book is definitely Ella the Eagle, who was written by my brother, Jaden. Ella is fierce and energetic, but also sophisticated and graceful. My favorite character that I came up with is probably Lenny the Ladybug. He has sort of an east coast swagger and attitude, so he's aggressive, but he's also knowledgable. My favorite story is probably Nari the Newt, because the element of the Commandment Stone's power flowing into her and giving her fiery powers is really exciting. The hardest story to write was probably Xande the X-Ray Tetra, because there was so much about how he came to be in the pot of soup that I had to cut out in order to keep the story length we needed. Christopher also swims on the local swim team at the Junior Olympic level, and he is learning all about Egyptian hieroglyphs, as well as particle physics, for fun. Christopher is our eldest child, and we are in shock almost daily by how quickly he is passing us in height. He is also one reliable guy; when he says he's going to do something, you can count on him to get it done.
