Originally from India, David Mahal has lived most of his life in the United States. After having his DNA analyzed through the National Geographic Society's Genographic Project, he developed an interest in genetics and genealogy that led him to do further research into the genetic history of the Indian subcontinent. As a result of this effort, his first book "Before India: Exploring Your Ancestry Through DNA," was published in 2014. In addition to being an author, David is the founder and president of a management services and communications firm where, among other things, he published a business journal on technology for fifteen years. Before starting his firm he held management positions at several multinational companies including Air India, Xerox Corporation, and a Howard Hughes company. David earned the advanced executive MBA degree from the Peter Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, the MS degree from University of Rochester, and the BA degree from Dominican College. He is an instructor at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), and serves as a volunteer at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
