In 2005, Maryann was nominated by one of her former Pre-K Students to The National Honor Roll of Outstanding American Teachers. Throughout her teaching days in Elmhurst, New York, one of the most multicultural communities in the United States, Maryann authored multiple stories to spark imaginations, stimulate creativity and enhance knowledge to those entrusted to her care. She created unique tales to be utilized for innovative Instructional Units in Literacy. As a fundraiser for the school, Maryann authored two children's coloring books cleverly illustrated by one of her young students. Since Maryann feels strongly that literary advancement of our youngest generation is paramount, she generously donates a portion of her proceeds to the education of poor and orphan children abroad, as well as youngsters in need in the community. In addition, Maryann also enjoys writing poetry and has had a number of her poetic works published in local newspapers, as well as an inclusion in a poetry book entitled The Colors of Life by the International Library of Poetry. She is most proud of her cherished poems, A Mother - A Miracle of God's Creation! and Never Forget to Honor a Vet!
