She has a master's degree in history and in teaching from Virginia Commonwealth University and a school librarian postgraduate certificate from Longwood University. Her first book, Miller & Rhoads Legendary Santa Claus (2001), tells the history of the real Santa that visited Richmond every Christmas. Kristin enjoys traveling; she has visited thirty-nine states and traveled overseas.
